Although located in front of Kumamoto Station as one of the gateways into Kumamoto City, this project site has experienced exhaustive depreciation, which called for a renewal of landscape, safety and a more sufficient use of land. Together with Kumamoto City Government, MUP explored the project applicable function to Kumamoto, and create an energetic and user-friendly urban environment in front of Kumamoto station, while equipping new public facilities and private sector facilities. The project site include the facility “Kumamoto Shintoshin Plaza” that allocate library and multifunctional hall, retails area, greenery and event space. There is also a high-rise tower mansion, the highest building in Kumamoto. This project which follows Mori Building’s Vertical Garden concept, suggesting a compact city of mixed-use and greenery.
