World Design City • GIFU (ACTIVE G) is a retail complex located below the newly elevated spaces surrounding Gifu Station. The complex was built by us, and then procured by Gifu Prefecture in a public-private partnership supported by the Private Finance Initiative (PFI). We have leased it in its entirety from the prefectural government and undertaken its management. To be clearly differentiated from conventional station-building projects, the complex aims at creating not only a space that houses the usual array of popular shops and tenants but also a symbolic center that makes the best of the history, culture, tradition and other assets unique to the area. World Design City GIFU comprises three zones: ART, FOOD and HEALTH, in addition to a highly popular natural hot spring facilities inside the station.
