AEL MATSUYAMA is a redevelopment project located at the north of Okaido, the main commercial area of Matsuyama, the capital of Ehime Prefecture. The site now becomes the hub of municipal office, retail facility and hotel, which is also very close to the ropeway leading to the famous tourist spot – Matsuyama Castle. The project is a redevelopment of Laforet Harajuku・Matsuyama, evolved between local government and high street to recreate a new iconic entrance to the shopping street. The development plan includes a renewal of arcade, a road improvement plan and high quality building plan.The new mixed-use building that has become the landmark of the shopping area, has contributed to the revival of Matsuyama city centre. The new building is 13-storeys with a total floor space of 11,000㎡, while a contemporary hotel can be found at the upper storey, 3rd and 4th are occupied by an urban-style bridal facility. Ground level and upper ground level are a proposal of new community commercial facility where unique boutiques, new style shops and new restaurants can be found.
